We usually respond within three days
🚀 Be part of a movement to change the way Europe pays
You will be part of our mission at EPI to build and deliver a meaningful European payment solution.
Together, we want to enable a stronger European payment ecosystem by acting as both bridge and builder, delivering a payment solution for consumers across Europe.
🔎 What's in it for you
Help a group of senior engineers define and align on a plan to bring EPI's infrastructure to the next level, from a reliability and scalability perspective.
💥 Your impact
You’ll act as the Technical Product Manager for the Infrastructure team:
- Guiding the team to create and deliver their roadmap
- Setting clear priorities across specialities to enable them to focus
- Collaborating closely with senior engineers across multiple teams
- Managing stakeholder expectations around SLAs, SLOs, audit and compliance
- Depending on your background, you may also lead root cause analysis, growth planning, budgeting and purchasing
✅ If you had joined us last month, here’s what you could have done
- You would have been part of our engaging 2-day “Q2 delivery planning” event alongside the entire team. Throughout these two days, we unite in a virtual setting to strategise and lay down the groundwork for our quarterly plans, empowering us to launch into the new quarter with precision and determination.
💻 Technology stack
EPI’s backend is microservices-based (AWS, Kubernetes, Kotlin, Ktor) backed by Kafka, mongoDB, and elasticsearch). Our mobile apps are native iOS and Android.
🕵🏻♀️ To succeed, you should meet at least 70% of these requirements
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in scaling a SaaS platform and 3 years as a product manager or in a product owner role
- You should either have an engineering background yourself, or have experience leading devops and backend engineers. Either way you need to be able to discuss technical topics with engineers at some depth
- Experience in the payment or financial services industry is a plus
- SaaS Platform scaling experience - involved in leading high-criticality platform that scaled to millions of monthly users
- Fluent in English and another European language
- Thrive in a fully remote, multicultural environment
🐝 About the team
Our infrastructure team has 3 subteams, supporting our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipeline, shared backend services and components, and shared mobile app architecture.
While the other feature teams are responsible for the availability and uptime of their services, this team looks after the underlying platform and enables the other teams to deploy new technologies. As such, the team is a mixture of passionate senior devops, infrastructure, backend, and mobile engineers, with combined deep payments experience spanning decades.
🪜 If this looks like you, the recruitment steps are:
- A first call with one of our recruiters
- An interview focused on the mission and your expertise
- Possibly, a business case or a tech assessment
- An interview focused on our company skills
- Hopefully, an offer you can’t refuse
⛔ Turn back if …
- You haven’t worked intensively with devops/operations teams for several years in high-criticality production environments
- You haven’t spent at least a few years leading technical teams
- You have only worked on established platforms and are not used to dealing with growing pains
Otherwise apply!
€ Who are we?
The European Payments Initiative has a unique role in bringing together the various players in the payment industry. We are creating an innovative, future-proof payment solution designed to meet the needs of merchants, professionals, charities and other organisations that accept payments and to enhance the everyday lives of consumers in Europe.

EPI is a catalyst for change, enabling banks, payment service providers, payment gateways and merchants to contribute collectively to the continued strength and resilience of the European Union.
We want to start and grow a new movement with the potential to change the way people across Europe pay in the future.
🫶 Our commitment to equal employment opportunities
EPI offers the same job opportunities to all, without distinction of gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, social status, disability or age. EPI promotes the development of an inclusive work environment that mirrors the diversity of the clients our product is serving.
